Summer peeped into the classroom. Playful clouds were heading for unknown territories.
For Lajos Gyula Ladó the vacation was at risk. If he did not get at least four out of five in maths for his end of term grade, his parents would not let him visit his uncle at Lake Balaton. Uncle was head of a state farm. Unfortunately, Gyula had not enjoyed Uncle's idyll on his own for very long. Lajos's parents were rather protective.
"It matters whose company you are in. Or do you want him to learn from old Matula? He's an old man who smells of tobacco who can hardly read or write," said his mother. "I like him but Gyula won't learn anything from him," she added.
"That's not true. Matula is a pure-hearted, wise man, who can teach your son a lot," said István, Gyu-la's uncle.
